Since entering the Vietnamese football landscape in 2000 the club has built a culture of success, with two V-League titles already under their belt.

Winning the 2001-02 Vietnamese First Divison, the club won promotion to the V-League for the 2003 season, finishing runner-up and third in their first two seasons in the top flight. That consistency allowed them to clinch their first, and ultimately their second, V-League titles in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

Two more runner-up campaigns followed, however the club had a dramatic fall in 2010, finishing 10th.

Much of that early success can be attributed to the stability created by having just the one manager for their first eight years - Portugal’s Henrique Calisto, who managed the club between 2001 and 2008. Since his departure, however, the position of head coach has been a revolving door with no less than nine managers being appointed in the three years since his departure.
