Arunava Chaudhuri

Arunava Chaudhuri was born and brought-up in Remscheid, Germany and spent five years of his schooling in the Indian city of Calcutta. And there comes his interest for Indian football.

Arunava’s tryst with football started in April 1998 when he founded IndianFootball.Com a premier football site which was also India’s largest website dedicated to football. Creating a niche for himself as a sports expert particularly in football, Arunava honed his skills by working in various organizations.

His love for the game of football drove him to learn the nuances of radio production, doing interviews and features for the Deutsche Welle radio service in Germany and he additionally got a chance to have his own radio column during the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup for which he amongst others interviewed the German football legend Franz Beckenbauer.

Arunava further delved into the communications sector and was in charge of International Media and TV production for the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier between India and Japan in Calcutta, India in September 2004. Additionally he handled the International Media Relations for the Major League Futbol (Caribbean League) in 2006.

And during the 2010 FIFA World Cup he reported for Indian news channel Times Now about the World Cup fever in Germany and the Netherlands. It was followed by work for DW at the 2011 AFC Asian Cup and covering the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

Arunava has worked as a football commentator, expert and correspondent for different Indian TV channels – ESPN-Star Sports, Zee Sports, NDTV 24×7 and Times Now, while also talking about football on the BBC World Service, Voice of America, MDR Sputnik & RSG Radio.

He has also written articles for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (Germany) and the Hindustan Times (India) about football.
