HISTORY
Henan FC was founded in 1958 by the local government sports body to participate in the expanding Chinese football system.

The team often spent much of its time in the second tier except for a short period during the late 1970s when the league was expanded to accommodate more teams. The club become professional in 1994, renaming themselves as Henan Jianye, and was promoted to CSL for 2007.

The club hired Pei Encai to guide them through the season with the stated aim of avoiding relegation, which they narrowly managed to achieve. However as the club became more demanding for success, several managers came and went, before the club decided on Tang Yaodong. Tang proved to be very successful, helping guide Henan to a 3rd placed finish in 2009, their highest ever finish.

Henan Jianye is owned by Henan Construction Co.Ltd who took over the club in 1994.
