With the start of the new year, and with the Christmas/New Year period, behind us, things are starting to heat up in Thailand in anticipation of the new season. With all the news, Matt once again brings us up-to-date with Thai Talk.

The Thai Transfer Window

Although the chance for foreign players to be moved to Thai teams opened on December 20th, with the Christmas and New Year holidays behind us, the fun really starts now. The window stays open until March 13th, ten days after the first game of the season. Now that Thai teams can offer highly lucrative contracts to foreign players, expect the next three months to be a highly charged affair.

Frank Acheampong is set to sign a six month loan deal with Belgian side Anderlecht

Frank Acheampong set to move to Anderlecht on six month loan, reportedly for $1 million US;

• Bangkok Glass confirm interest in Singaporeans Shahril Ishak and Baihakki Khaizan;
• Agent says Costa Rican international forward Cesar Elizondo is coming to Buriram for a fitness test & contract signing;

• Chonburi are interested in Nazaf’s Montenegran forward Ivan Boskovic;
• Chiang Rai United say signing of Philippines international Paul Mulders from ADO Den Haag on a two-year contract is “90% done.”


Thailand Gets Ready for PSV

PSV Eindhoven are using their winter break from the Eredivisie to play Thai Champions SCG Muang Thong United next Tuesday. With world class players like former Barcelona and Bayern Munich playmaker Mark Van Bommel and former Aston Villa favourite Wilfred Bouma, this will be a great chance for Thai fans to see the players that have scored an incredible sixty goals from their first eighteen games, leaving them top of the league on goal difference ahead of FC Twente.
