HISTORY
Founded in 1956, Salgaocar was the dream of Mr. V.M. Salgoacar, the founding President of the Salgaocar Group of Companies, to give a platform to Goan youth to showcase their talent to the country and to the world.

After India liberated Goa from Portuguese rule in 1961, Salgaocar became the first Goan club invited to participate in the Durand Cup a year later in 1962.

Despite an era through the 1980s and 90s where the club won many trophies, the last few years has seen success hard to come by, testing the faith of their loyal fans. After yo-yoying between different divisions the club managed to gain promotion to the NFL in 2003 where they stayed until the start of the I-League in 2007.

After winning their first national championships (the NFL in 1998-99), they ended a 12-year drought in 2011 when they clinched their first I-League title in the 2010-11 season.
