HISTORY
One of the newer clubs in Thai Football, Chiangrai were only formed in 2009 and entered the Regional League Division 2 Northern, which they would go on to win.

As a result of this, Chiangrai entered the 2009 Regional League Championships, an end of season mini-league for all five Regional League Division 2 championship winners. Chiangrai would finish Runners-Up, earning promotion to the Thai Division 1 League for 2010.

Another successful campaign saw them promoted to the Thai Premier League for the 2011 season, their first season in the top tier of Thai football.
