On the final weekend before the end of the transfer window, some players turned out for their sides for the last time this year. Shinji Kagawa was the standout performer with a brace for Borussia Dortmund.
With the Bundesliga and Eredivisie returning to action from their winter break, more Asian players returned to action with two, Japan’s Mike Havenaar and Hiroshi Ibusuki, making their Eredivisie and La Liga debuts.
With some leagues across Europe returning from their winter breaks it signaled the return to club football for a number of Asian players.
It was a productive week for Asian players across Europe, as a handful scored vital goals for their clubs as the the season starts to get into full swing.
Players from 13 Asian nations saw action over the weekend across Europe and South America, with South Koreans Park Ji-sung, Son Heung-min and Sanzhar Tursunov getting on the scoresheet.
As has been the case at the start of most seasons, there were plenty of Asian players in action while there were also a few that managed to get on the scoresheet for their clubs.
The weekend saw more leagues return to action which meant more game time for more Asian players, especially across Europe.

Whilst most leagues in Europe are still to kick off, there are a handful that are already in action and such is the global nature of Football there were a number of Asian players involved in action over the weekend.
